Ben MulliganParticipant
hey thanks for the reply!
i’ve seen bass players do the dribbling thing…i’ve never tried it myself…it looks that would be harder on the wrist than anything!
i’ll give it a try though!
Ben MulliganParticipanthey no problem contranauta!
i was hoping it wasn’t just me with wrist problems!
i do have small wrists though so i can see how it isn’t common with most peoplei just ordered one of these too
good for the wrist!
Ben MulliganParticipantBen MulliganParticipanthey Nicholas!
yeah when i ordered the cordes lambert strings i asked yvan if he could sell me the charlaz redord too..he had no problem doing that!
that would be a cool way to sell the strings too….have it as an option to include a record demonstrating the strings..
Ben MulliganParticipantare the new deluxe cordes lambert strings any different in sound from the first set of strings?
i just tried the first line of strings on my bass yesterday…they feel great!…i can really get nice drag slaps on the E&A strings now without trying too hard
and i finally got the new charlaz record…”ice cream” is my favourite song!
Ben MulliganParticipantsupport the guys we have on here!!
didi beck wrote a book on it
nicholas dubouchet has a dvd out (i have it it’s perfect)a year later i still watch it once in awhile cuz i still find and learn little tricks here and there
Ben MulliganParticipantjoe fick and spazz to
Ben MulliganParticipantwow that’s an awesome selection…that’s pretty much who i want to hear from….who else…….valle (mad sin), kim nekroman……and just to stick a canadian in there i’ll say colin of the dead (the Brains)….
those are the best i can come up with but that first list pretty much nailed the best i know that aren’t on here yet!
Ben MulliganParticipantCan’t wait to try those strings nicholas!
i’ll definitly be one of the first in line to buy a set off of you!
~BenwardoBen MulliganParticipantWOW!!
Nicholas, thank you SO Much for introducing me to Django reinhardt!
it’s opened up a WHOLE new wave of challenges for me and my bass now!
the song writing is so much more sophisticated! than the traditional rockabilly predictable bass lines!
i was starting to get bored of that stuff and i needed something new!
thanks!
since i started watching your vids on youtube i’ve been getting better very fast! and now this!
awesome music!
who would’ve thought a punk rocker could fall in love with swing music eh!thanks again
Ben MulliganParticipantafter going through several youtube videos i’ve found what seems to be the best video for massaging your wrists
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpJWI59eHI8
i’ve also learned that wearing those wrist braces while you sleep or hang out at home helps too
Ben MulliganParticipantthanks!
i use a gallien krueger 1001rb head with a GK 410rbh cab for the tone
a yorkville combo amp for the slap sound
i like dividing the slap from the tone…i never get feedback and my slap sound has a very high pitched click. i also get high end sound from the notes a bit too
my bass is a sunrise solana from lemur music.
what about you?
Ben MulliganParticipanthey nicholas my band’s myspace is http://www.myspace.com/thec0ffins
the 2 videos featured on the myspace are from our first 2 shows ever
and the songs were all recorded by us in a livingroom
so they don’t really give me justice on my playing
we’re hoping to record our songs right this spring aswell as record our first record
maybe i’ll even upload some vids of me playing on youtube sometime aswell…seems like a good way to advertize….i wouldn’t have found out about slapology or charlaz if it wasn’t for your vids on youtube.
hope you like it
by the way….AWESOME new vids! i just subscibed to your youtube account
~Benwardo
Ben MulliganParticipantthanks for the advice nicholas!
and thanks for ALL of your advice on here!
especially all the string advice!by the way, your DVD is amazing….i love using the pull slap the most
with your lessons aside, all the sound clips you have on the menu screens are awesome too…i’m still trying to learn avalon though!
almost have it!…..just need a find a trumpet player now !
Slapology….whoever doesn’t have this DVD…GET IT!
Ben MulliganParticipantI use innovation rockabilly E&A and efrano gut D&G
i LOVE the guts, nice tension and beautiful slap sound but for some reason when i play live my K&K pickups don’t pickup the G that well…anyone else have the same problem?
the innovation A string sounds awesome aswell as the E but when i play live the E sounds a bit dead.
i’m getting a custom roadking from kingdouble bass being made for me right now and i’m going to keep the guts but i’m going to try silver slaps for E&A. is this a good decision?
and does anybody have any updates on the innovation psycho slaps yet? i’d really like to get some light tension E&A strings that sound and feel good like my guts. i hear E&A guts sound a bit dead?
