Howdy Everybody! It’s great to see a new forum for bass, especially one run by such a great and respected player!!!
My name is Kevin Smith, I’ve been playing in Austin for about 20 yrs or so.
Past projects include rockabilly band High Noon, Ronnie Dawson, Assylum St. Spankers, and a very short stint with the Brian Setzer Orchestra. Played with Dwight Yoakam for a couple of years, and early this year I got to do an album and a tour playing slap bass with Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel.
My current projects include playing electric and upright bass with the Derailers, and upright bass with traditional country band Heybale! and singer songwriter Damon Bramblett.
I also made an instructional video a few years ago with Mark Rubin called The Ungentle Art. Glad to be aboard, and looking forward to the forums!

Well hello gentlemen.
Great, another place to waste time instead of living, or actually playing bass.
Think I’ll go and change my strings.
Good articles though, keep em coming!
