It does have a fuzzier sound than the rest on my bass. But I found a run out of C that has a few slaps on the low G. So working on that has smoothed mine out a little.
A different string could solve things, but lightening up your touch could help too. I always find I need to pull just a little differently on the E. My first bass had a beveled fingerboard, and I thought the tone difference was because of that, but it also seems to be the case on my newer instrument.
