Hi friends.
I play string bass … a lot. Over the last 20 years, I’ve played thousands of gigs here in Austin, throughout the country, and around the globe.
In that time, I’ve developed a very close relationship with slap technique and its application to many different genres. While my interests travel far and wide, early jazz and swing is where my deepest love lies. The styles of that era have received most of my attention; slapping through that material is where it’s at for me.
Playing one, two … three gigs a night, six and seven days a week for years on end has also shown me the importance of understanding the health of the mind, body, and spirit as it relates to bass performance, learning, teaching, and intelligent growth. I’ve spent most of my adult life exploring many different movement disciplines and use that knowledge to guide how and what I play as well as how and what I teach and share.
Throw all this business together and I find myself dedicated to community building and spiritual growth through music, especially in the world of bassists.
