What about making some type of in depth lesson or guide to amping?

I have learnt quite a bit from rockabillybass.com on general info on amping but a lot of the talk I dont even understand, I cant remember any of the names of things off hand that made no sense but there was a few.

Maybe something explaining the differences between all of the different types of pickups and proper ways to mount them and placement and stuff. As well I rarely see any info explaining how to use a magnetic pickup, not sure the name of them but the one that goes right at the bottom of the fingerboard like strangy has on his shark bass.

Or if there is a good guide somewhere that I may have missed a point in the right direction would be appreciated.

I just spent some time writing about pick ups. Hit submit and it got lost in cyberspace. Something about having to be registered even tough I can clearly see that I am logged in. I will try and rewrite it tomorrow as I need time to play my bass now.

Being forumaddicted for years have tought me one thing, always copy your text before clicking submit. I have lost track of all the times my replys disappeared because of some sort of error. Just a tip 😉

Yeah I hate when that happens, So many times I have written a detailed novel explaining something then it gets lost and I rewrite it half assed and its not nearly as good as it was before.

Anything more than a few short paragraphs now and I always copy it, I have a ton of buttons on my mouse and one is a backspace shortcut which I hit a lot of the times and lose all forms that are filled in.

There is no ultimate guide for that. Only some tips. Everything depends on bass, strings, tension, room, action, pickup, pickup position, amp and so on…
Just listen to the sound 😀

THE PICK UP STRANGY GOT IN THE SHARK BASS IS THE CLASSIC SCHALLER, I USE THE SAME ONE BUT I MADE A MODIFICATION ON IT, RIGHT NOW AS I DON’T HAVE MY DOUBLEBASS I CAN’T PUT A PHOTO WITH THE MODIFICATION FOR RECEIVE THE SLAP… BUT AS SOON IS POSSIBLE (ONE OR TWO MONTHS) I WILL SEND YOU IF YOU WANT…
I USE THE CUSTOM SCHALLER WITH A REALISTIC DAVID GAGE UNDER THE BRIDGE, AND SOUNDS SOO POWERFULL THE SLAP AND THE BODY AS HELL… :woohoo:

Man, no need for capital letters here.

This modification is pretty easy. you just have to wire the piezo element to the jack and to the volume knob. The volume knob will then be a “balance” knob. Just make sure the 2 pickups are in phase.
