I started playing slap bass about a year ago and now play bass in two Rockabilly bands. What attracted me to slap bass is the ability to bring two of my favorite instruments, drum and bass together in one instrument. Then there is the tone, that woody thump and deep resonance that can only come from an upright bass. I have been playing electric bass for 12 years and as soon as I got my upright I fell in love with it. It’s the tone I have been looking for. I feel that I am still in the learning phase and look forward to broadening my skill set and carry it to the next level.
